Our Guiding Values
These values were shaped through real collective female experiences — by paying attention to how women in their late twenties and beyond dress, shop, and live. Through conversations and observation, we saw clear patterns in what women value and aspire to be in their everyday style.
If you’re building a wardrobe that feels more considered, more personal, and built to last, these values will resonate.
Together, these 4 values guide how we design at SILK&plum — from fabric choices to fit. They reflect how women actually dress: with intention, a sense of self, balance, and a focus on longevity.
N°1 INTENTION
Buy less, buy better.
We believe the best way to keep clothes out of landfills is to purchase with intention. Buying pieces you love, pieces that feel like you, pieces you actually want to reach for — not things that sit in the back of your wardrobe with the tags still on. Intention here means your clothes have a purpose. They fit your life, your taste, your routines. They don’t add clutter — they add value. When you buy intentionally, your wardrobe feels clearer, more confident, and more “you.”
Our Commitment: We are committed to ensuring that at least half of every collection is made using natural fabrics, encouraging thoughtful purchasing and long-term wear.
N°2 IDENTITY
Your clothes should reflect you, not the trend cycle.
We’re all tired of buying into trends that don’t feel right two months later. Identity is about choosing pieces that express your style — not someone else’s. We believe in creating clothes that highlight personality: pieces that adapt to your mood, your season of life, your lifestyle. Pieces that aren’t trying to transform you into another version of yourself, but support the woman you already are. If an item doesn’t feel like “you,” it won’t get worn, and identity helps you avoid that.
Our Commitment: We commit to incorporating prints and colour in every collection, reflecting the playful, expressive identity that defines Silk & Plum.
N°3 BALANCE
The sweet spot between minimal and maximal.
Real women don’t dress at extremes. Most of us live in the middle. Some days we want colour. Some days we want clean lines. Most days, we want a mix. Balance is the heart of SILK&plum: refined, but not boring; expressive, but not loud; modern, but still warm; structured, yet graceful and above all womanly.
It’s the kind of clothing that goes from day to night, from city to travel, from casual to dressed-up — simply by how you style it. Balance = versatility with personality.
Our Commitment: We commit to designing a mix of minimal, classic pieces in every collection — so there is balance, versatility, and something for every woman.
N°4 CONTINUITY
Keep what you love. Pass it on when it’s time.
Continuity is a profound component of building a wardrobe that’s often overlooked. We believe that a great wardrobe is built over time, not overnight. Continuity means choosing pieces that stay with you across seasons of your life — pieces you can wear again next year, in a different chapter, styled in a new way. And when something no longer feels like your identity, it should still be special enough to pass on.
Some of the most meaningful pieces in any woman’s wardrobe come from her mother, sister, grandmother — items that carry stories. Continuity is about owning clothes with a future, not just a moment.
Our Commitment: We remind our customers, through our care labels, that the SILK&plum woman looks after her clothes, passes them down, and keeps them out of landfills — as part of our small but intentional early commitment to sustainability.
